INTRODUCING THE 2017 STAFF TEAM
Don’t be surprised to see me drop into a plank position or completing pull-ups underneath the table this summer. I aspire to be a Strength & Conditioning coach at the collegiate level and have a deep passion for training (this may make me seem like a tough person, but I still don't like spiders). This will be my second summer at camp, aka my second attempt at figuring out how to braid hair.
I am looking forward to serving my second summer as Cedarbrook’s Director. Prior to this role, I worked in the development office at Wheaton College (my alma mater) for seven years. Camp is in my blood as my father and brother attended and worked at Northern Frontier and I was blessed to grow up in the Cedarbrook (then Cherith) program both as a camper, CILT, and staff member. When I’m not at camp, I live in Chicago with my husband (Brendon) and son (Owen) who arrived during camp last summer!
After attending Cedarbrook as a camper, I now work full time year-round as Cedarbrook’s Assistant Director. Camp has given me a wonderful opportunity to teach and guide young girls to Christ. Through camp, God has blessed me with a group of friends that I can lean on and turn to, and with hundreds of campers, many of whom I have watched grow to accept Christ as their personal Savior. I can’t wait to see you at camp this summer!
"Dakota"Program Team Leader
Lorrie Murdock is graduating Nursing School this May and after camp this summer she looks forward to starting a new career. Her favorite camp activities are canoeing, swimming, archery, and playing giant badminton on The Green.
"Chicky"Outdoor Living Skills Specialist
My love for camp was fostered at New England Camp Cedarbrook, which I attended for eight years. In 2015, the Lord led me to the Adirondacks to complete my CILT training. This will be my second year serving as the OLS Specialist and I am looking forward to what God has in store for this summer. Currently, I am a student at Appalachian Bible College in West Virginia.
Hello! Last summer was my first year on staff and I LOVED it! I was previously a camper and CILT for 6ish years. Outside of camp, I am attending Liberty University. I love camp and can't wait to see what new adventures this summer holds!
I grew up going to New England Camp Cedarbrook and I went every summer since I was in second grade. I completed the CILT program there as well as counseled for two summers. This will be my second summer at Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks and I am so excited to be coming back. I have a deep passion for camp ministry, food cooked over the fire, and mathematics. I currently attend Wheaton College in Illinois.
"Ariel"Archery and Drama Specialist
I am so excited to go back to camp again this summer. I have been going to camp since I was really young so while this is my 4th year on staff it is my 16th summer attending this wonderful place. Each year is full of new surprises. I can't wait to see how God will use me and the rest of the staff to help raise up the next generation of strong women of God.
This summer is my first as a counselor at Camp Cedarbrook! The east coast will be my temporary home this summer because I was born in and currently live in Southern California, the home of 70 degree winters. I am junior in college, studying to be a high school history or Bible teacher at The Master’s University. I love the great outdoors, playing sports, and camping so I am thrilled to be serving the Lord in the Adirondack Mountains this summer!
I am pleased to be joining the Cedarbrook staff for my third summer in a row. Spending 8+ weeks in the Adirondack wilderness has always been an enjoyable growing experience, and I cannot wait to share my love of the outdoors and horses with the girls who come to camp this year. In May, I complete my degree in Psychology at Houghton College, with minors Music and Theology. Camp is the dream place for me to spend time in the transition between school and the "after-college" future.
This is my second year on staff, last year I was a junior counselor and this is my first as a counselor! I love music, and my favorite activities are archery and sailing. All around, I love spending my summers at camp and have for 10 years now. I'm starting college at Cedarville University this fall and am majoring in Worship Arts. I am excited to come back to my work at my favorite place on earth for yet another summer.
"Adelle"Program Team Leader
There are not many places where you make lifelong friends in a weeks time, are completely immersed in an intentional Christian community, and get to spend so much time in the great outdoors! I came to camp as a young camper and made friends over 15 years ago that I still stay in touch with today. My friendships and the faith I developed while at camp helped me survive that toughest parts of my college years. Camp has also challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and have a ton of fun doing it! Camp has become a home away from home and it's my prayer that you will have a similar experience! This summer you will be sure to find me taking care of camp's critter at the Nature Nest. On the off-seasons I am an Art Teacher at Hawthrone Christian Academy.
"Tyto"Groom Aide Supervisor
This is my second and a half summer at camp. I grew up throughout Highschool at camp! It wasn't until my Jr year that God lead me towards the CILT program. Where I flourished and grew, not only in my relationship with God, but my maturity as His daughter in this world. I love camp with a passion, and I look forward to being God's servant this summer. If you ever need to find me, I'll most likely be with the horses!
I am so excited to be joining the Staff of Camp Cedarbrook for the first summer! It goes without saying that camp is one of my favorite places on earth- a place to serve the Lord in his beautiful creation while building incredible relationships, what could be better?! I can't wait to see all that the lord will do in the lives of the campers and wonderful fellow staff members. Catch me this summer enjoying a swim at the beach, singing some camp songs and soaking up all of the Lords heavenly sunshine!
"Scooter"Counseling Team Leader
Cedarbrook is my favorite place in the world, and I cannot wait to be a part of God's awesome work this summer. You will probably hear me before you see me since I'm usually singing loudly wherever I go. I also love to spend my camp days swimming and lifeguarding down at the waterfront. Camp's ministry has shaped my life and starting this fall I will be back at Wheaton College earning my Masters in Christian Formation and Ministry: Outdoor Adventure Leadership learning how to make camp even greater.
Hi. My name is Colleen Heinze, but at camp I go by Kiska. This summer, I am the CILT Coordinator and the Medical Director. I started at Camp as a Trailblazer, and I am blessed to say that this will be my 19th year on staff. I am looking forward to seeing what God is going to do among our staff and in the lives our girls this summer.
Hi everyone, I'm Cada! I'm a senior in high school and I plan on attending Messiah College next fall for Social Work. This is my second year on staff, and I am beyond excited to be working at camp again! It has played a huge part in my family's life for as long as I can remember. I think the best part of camp is having fun with like-minded Christians and learning about God in the great outdoors! ...and definitely teather-ball! 🙂
"Whimbrel"Counseling Team Leader
I am excited about spending another summer focused on leading and supporting our counselors! These are the women that are on the front lines of engaging with and loving our campers--the role models our campers are eager to emulate. I know from experience that these summers are formative ones in the lives of our counselors and I count it a privilege to support them in the challenge to the best of my ability. I was raised in the camp program as a camper and CILT before going on to serve on staff in few different roles. When I'm not at camp I'm in Charlottesville, VA working as a pediatric nurse and learning to enter into the messy joy of community there. In the fall I will be starting grad school to become a nurse practitioner.
Camp is in my blood! I’ve been coming as a camper since I was 8 years old and this will be my 4th summer on staff. I love this ministry with my whole heart and am so thankful to the Lord to be able to be a part of it. At camp my favorite things are Archery, Sailing, and setting up my hammock for a sleepout! At home I have just received my Associates degree in Liberal Arts and plan to pursue my Bachelors degree in Secondary English Literature Education. At home my favorite things are my job with the Children’s Ministry at my church, coffee dates with good friends, and smiling. I’m so pumped for this summer and can’t wait for what God has in store!
"Zazu"Staff Kid Counselor
This will be my first summer at Camp Cedarbrook in the Adirondacks. Although I grew up going to New England Camp Cedarbrook. I love camp! My favorite part is how much I grow; in my relationship with God, the skills that I'm learning and the friendships that I make. I am currently a fully time nanny. But in January I am leaving to go on a mission trip for 6 months working primarily in orphan care.
Hello! My name is Lola Obadina. I just graduated from Eastern University and will be attending Columbia University for human rights studies this fall. I am so excited to be joining Camp Cedarbrook as a first-time counselor this summer. I love the outdoors, playing sports and enjoying God’s beautiful creations. I am excited to spend my summer in the beautiful Adriondack mountains while being immersed in a wonderful Christian community. I am also glad I have the opportunity to serve God and all the lovely girls I will be meeting this summer. I can’t wait to experience what God has planned for us at camp this summer!
This will be my first summer as a counselor at Camp Cedarbrook, and I can't wait for camp to start! I’m from Maine so the outdoors is both a passion and comfort to me. In the fall I start my junior year of college at University of Southern Maine, along with a cosmetology program at Empire Beauty. After that who knows where I will go. I feel a special call to women’s and children’s ministry, and am super excited to see how God will use me and what he will reveal to me over the summer. See you soon!
