As we move into fall, you may ask yourself, what happens at camp during the off-season? Wonder no more! Meet Nancy “Barney” Mauriello and Renee “Peach” Hedeen, two of our year-round staff members, who work through the year to make sure that camp is up and running during the summer!
Name and Bird Name: Renee “Peach” Hedeen
Tell us a little about yourself. I have a four-month-old daughter named Nicole and am married to a wonderful man named Calvin [who worked as maintenance staff this summer]. I went to Toccoa Falls College, where I got my BA in Counseling/Psychology. I used to play soccer and hope to one day continue playing.
What is your job for camp and what does it entail? I am the business manager. I take care of the finances and make sure bills and employees get paid on time.
What’s your history with camp? This is my first year working at camp. I heard about the position from Brian Conroy, and felt like it would be a good way I could be involved in camp ministry.
What excites you most about working for CCA? I never had the opportunity to go to a Christian girls’ camp growing up, and being able to work for CCA has given me the chance to help young girls have the experience I never got to have.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? If I could travel anywhere, I would go back to Germany and Alaska and explore more of the surrounding areas.
Name and Bird Name: Nancy Mauriello, bird name is Barney, which is short for Barn Swallow. If I ever thought that I’d still have to use my bird name after choosing it in 1974, I would have picked something better!
